Our coffee blends | WAKE UP

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

WAKE UP is for the early risers, whether or not it's their own choice or not. First thing in the morning there's nothing like a strong espresso to kickstart your day.

We wanted to create a strong coffee blend that combines great flavour and the with a subtle bitterness that makes you feel able to tackle any task in front of you.

During our development of this coffee we spoke to a lot of coffee drinkers who wanted one thing: strong coffee. It turns out that early risers, busy people and parents of young children all prefer a coffee that lifts them out of their slumber.

WAKE UP does this perfectly as that first coffee of the day or when a cup of tea just won't cut it.

Now for the science...

Coffee contains a natural stimulant called caffeine, which is a central nervous system stimulant that helps to increase alertness and reduce fatigue. When you consume coffee, the caffeine is absorbed into your bloodstream and travels to your brain. Once it reaches your brain, caffeine blocks the activity of a neurotransmitter called adenosine, which is responsible for promoting sleep and suppressing arousal.

By blocking adenosine, caffeine increases the activity of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine, which are associated with increased alertness, energy, and improved cognitive function. This can help you feel more awake and alert, and can also help to improve your mood and cognitive performance.

It typically takes about 30 minutes for caffeine to be fully absorbed into your bloodstream, so the effects of coffee on your wakefulness and alertness may take some time to kick in. However, the effects of caffeine can last for several hours, which is why we think you should choose WAKE UP in the morning as a way to help them start your day.
